Si Panya school visits our hotel

Yesterday we were visited by pupils of the Si Panya School Koh Phangan. All the different working steps at a good hotel on Koh Phangan were shown to the kids and everyone had a lot of fun!

First, everyone was checked in at the Koh Phangan hotel and could also take a look at the check-in 'from the other side of the counter'.

Then everyone got his or her keycard and we showed our little guests their rooms, where our housekeeping staff did a short presentation, how a proper BEST WESTERN bed is made so that everyone will have a good sleep in his Haad Rin accomodation.







Our guided tour through the hotel then brought us to the Laundry were, we make wonderful things out of towels... everyone was impressed!

Other parts of the tour included our Banquet room, the kitchen and of course... the beach!

We hope all children had as much fun as we had and could also get an idea about the hotel-business  in Thailand.

Learn to dive on Ko Phangan!


Koh Phangan has lovely sites around the island which are perfect for both, beginners and trained divers. From easy dives off the beach to longer trips by boat you can experience the world of tropical diving. All of the dive sites around Koh Pha-Ngan are situated on the south west, west and north coasts of the island, with the highest concentration of sites being in the west. All dive sites are very close to the island making it a perfect place to learn diving! There are several dive schools on Ko Phangan, offering PADI courses from beginner up to instructor level. PADI means "Professional Association of Diving Instructors" and is the largest diver training organisation worldwide. That means, your PADI Diver certification card will be recognised worldwide. By the way, Thailand is a very inexpensive way to learn diving, with PADI courses at some of the best rates in the world.


The waters around Koh Phangan are much nicer than most people know: You can find fine hard corals with a good range of reefs and tropical/pelagic fish making the area to one of the places for diving in Thailand.


During local dives you are likely to see a surprising variety of hard corals & a healthy cross section of reef & pelagic fish. The main structure of the reefs is hump coral (porites sp.), offering shelter to several different staghorn & table corals, plate & leaf corals, some extensive anemone corals, large brain corals,plus filter & soft corals on the deeper sites.


Every dive should introduce you to a variety of damselfish, angelfish, groupers (some of a fair size!), goatfish, wrasse & parrotfish, snapper & anemonefish to name but a few. You can also find stingray, big schooling barracuda, cuttlefish, tuna & hunting mackerel for example.


Most dive schools run daily trips to dive sites around Koh Pha-Ngan and to the premier dive sites in the Gulf of Siam like, Angthong Marine National Park, and Sailrock. Moreover, go to dive around Koh Tao is also very convenient from here.


You see, diving on Ko Phangan can be a lot of fun and will satisfy beginners and professionals. You can also expect dive sites around Ko Phangan being far from crowded. 


So put on the fins, dive in and find some of the greatest spots of Thailand diving!

About Koh Phangan, Thailand

 The jungle interior is still untouched in many areas and there's a magnificent variety of wildlife to see including the giant monitor lizards in Than Sadet National Park. Or at Koh Ma's National Marine Park there are turtles, shoals of tropical fish and a vibrant live reef teeming with mesmerising corals.  The town has grown to accommodate these visitors and Haad Rin has a great variety of restaurants, accommodation and nightlife options. There are over twenty clubs, scores of bars and a multitude of eateries serving every cuisine under the sun, from Mexican to Indian or whatever else you fancy.

 To reach Koh Phangan (or Ko Phangan), you will either be arriving at Suratthani on a bus, train or plane; at each drop off point there are tour guides to show you the way to the ferry terminals where several types of ferry go to Koh Phangan.

For those that are not on a budget Koh Samui has an international airport run by Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways have services arriving in Suratthani. All travel arrangements can be made at most travel agents once you arrive in Thailand, where you can purchase a combined Bus/Train/Boat ticket (Joint Ticket).

From Suratthani, you will arrive at the main port town of Thongsala. The BEST WESTERN Hotel Koh Phangan is located in Haad Rin, which is about 20 minutes drive from Thongsala; taxis regularly depart from Thongsala to Haad Rin, directly to the BEST WESTERN Phanganburi Resort.
If coming from Koh Samui, people can use the ferry service from Big Buddha Pier, which arrives directly at the Haad Rin Pier. From there it is possible to take a short walk along the beach or take a 5 minute taxi ride to Haad Rin Nai, where you will find the Best Western Resort situated on its own private Beach.
